Womanist

Political Scientist

Community Advocate

Hi! I am Cassidy

a dedicated political scientist and community advocate in Detroit. I have been at the frontlines of women's rights and broader social issues for as long as I can remember, often being seen as a feminist. Yet, something about that label never quite fit. It wasn't until I had a transformative conversation with community activist Ber-Henda Williams that I encountered the term Womanism. In that moment, I felt truly seen and heard. I embraced my identity as a womanist.

Womanist was born out of a desire to create a space where the power of feminism does not overshadow the reality for women of color. Here, Black and Brown women can come together to share their stories, insights, and experiences to feel seen and heard, just as I did. In a world where women’s voices are often underrepresented, we aim to amplify those voices and provide a platform for meaningful conversations.

Our blog covers a broad spectrum of topics, including personal growth, professional development, health and wellness, relationships, politics, entertainment, and more. We believe in the power of storytelling to connect, educate, and inspire. By sharing diverse experiences, we hope to create a sense of community and solidarity among women. Whether you are seeking advice, looking for inspiration, or simply want to read stories that resonate with your own experiences, Womanist is here for you.

Our mission is to uplift and celebrate Black and Brown women, helping us straighten each others' crowns and shine in all our endeavors.
